History
Born and raised in a very rough hood in Southern
California, from a tough gang life to a
international Musician ................Mitch McDowell - General Caine!
Working with such
greats as Jerry Goldstein he started the group "Rocks" which
only
released one 12" record.Working with B.B. Dickerson (original member
of WAR) they
changed the name to "Booty People" temporarily.Working with
Grover Wimbley the
owner of Groove Time Records, the group changed its name to General Caine
& released
their first album General Caine.Three years later the group released 'General
Caine II,
Get Down Attack'.
General Caine working with CBS Records and Clarence
Avant of Tabu Records they released
the songs "Girls" & "For Lovers Only"
in 1982 (co-writer Tony Patler), album included
Ray Davis,Maceo Parker,Fred Wesley,Kevin Goins,Daniel Macon, Trey Stone
and many
others. Trey also played keyboards on some songs.
In following years, General Caine released 'Dangerous', with collaborations
by Hershall
Happiness
( X-Graham Central Station) &
Johnny Guitar Carson . Word was that the Bands Demos would be
"So Hot" they could be sold and used as is on many fellow
artist albums . The demos for the
Dangerous Album were re-recorded & the album was
produced by Reggie
Andrews with many
arrangement chores handled by Leon
'Ndugu' Chancler, original arrangements such as "Get Closer"
,
"Bomb Body" & "Upside Down"were done by Mitch
McDowell, Johnny "Guitar" Carson &
Hershall "Happiness" Kennedy.
General Caine went to Capitol Records with a twelve
inch single entitled "Where's The Beef "
In 1986, the band went to Motown Records and now
was known as General Kane, they would
proceed to record for the label, releasing two albums, 'In Full Chill'
in 1986 and 'Wide Open' in
1987.
